It’s official! Nayanthara has been confirmed as the lead opposite Vijay in his next movie, his 63rd one, tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 63’. The news was confirmed by Atlee.

The director took to Twitter to make the announcement, writing how he was ‘extremely happy’ to welcome the actress on board the movie. He also mentioned Regina in his tweet, perhaps referring to Regina Cassandra as the other lead actress, though there’s no confirmation on it yet. He concluded his tweet by writing how they were looking forward to ‘working the magic’ once again.

The trend of associating the title of a film to the number of movie that the actor is working on is popular in the South film industry. The title stays that way till it is officially announced. So it’d be interesting to note what the eventual title would be.

Nayanthara and Vijay are working together after almost a decade since ‘Villu’ (2009).  Previously, they had also collaborated on the movie ‘Sivakasi’ in 2005 where the actress featured in a special song.

It’s also a reunion for Vijay-Atlee after ‘Theri’ in 2016 and the much-controversial but successful ‘Mersal’ in 2017. Vijay’s recent release ‘Sarkar’ was also similar in terms of the success and controversies.
