The first look shows Dhanush in his trademark Maari avatar. Sporting a colourful red shirt and blue inner with gold chains dangling from his neck, he can also be seen sporting a pair of shades. Other than that he has also retained his hairstyle and moustache from the original film, which will definitely be a source of delight for his fans. Moreover, he can be seen bursting a firecracker with a mischievious grin on his face. Overall, the poster is explosive, to say the least, and the theme is perfect with Diwali right around the corner.

Another interesting information that can be gleaned from the first look is the film's release date which turns out to be in December 2018. The actor, who had unveiled this poster via his Twitter handle, also had a really cool caption which read, "The naughtiest don is back. #Maari2FirstLook #Maari2  #tharalocal #senjuruven". The caption is another throwback to the first film for it contains his character's famous punch dialogue "senjuruven", which he used throughout the movie.
