The current string of marriages in the entertainment industry has been termed as the ‘wedding season’ and rightly so with Shweta Basu Prasad being the latest to join the list. The actress, who had married filmmaker Rohit Mittal on December 13, has shared more pictures from the ceremony.
The couple had tied the knot according to both Bengali rituals and Marwadi rituals in Pune and their outfits were according to their respective cultures. Shweta looked beautiful as the Bengali bride in a red and golden atpoure saree with benaroshi and the mukut. Her jewellery featured the nath, borla and choker necklace, red bangles and the look was completed with traditional make-up on her face and mehendi. Rohit wore for a black Jodhpuri and the turban.
One of the best moments was of the bride being escorted to the mandap by her close ones, as she hid her face with betel leaves, a ritual in Bengali weddings.
Shweta had shot to fame with her roles as child artiste in films like ‘Makdee’, for which she won a National Award, and ‘Iqbal.’ Later, she featured in many movies down South. The actress gained popularity for her TV show ‘Chandra Nandini'. In Bollywood, her last notable role was in ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania.’
Rohit has directed movies like ‘Autohead’ and 'Megalopolis' and short films like 'Shunya' and 'Kshanik.' It is said that Anurag Kashyap played cupid for the two as they were both friends with the filmmaker.
