‘KGF’ box office day 2: Yash starrer continues its record-breaking run in India and overseas

The pre-release buzz for ‘KGF (Kolar Gold Fields): Chapter 1’ starring Yash has translated in good footfalls for the action drama at the box office.

The pre-release buzz for ‘KGF (Kolar Gold Fields): Chapter 1’ starring Yash has translated in good footfalls for the action drama at the box office.

After an impressive first day where the film reportedly earned Rs 18.10 crore, the collections on Saturday further improved. According to reports, the movie has minted Rs 19.20 crore on the second day. The total now stands at Rs 37.21 crore. 

Overseas, it is the fastest Kannada movie to touch USD 200,000-dollar mark at the USA box office. 

Moreover, the first day worldwide gross was said to be Rs 24.50 crore, setting a record for the highest-ever opening for a Kannada film. 

The second-day collections are reported to be Rs 22.20 crore, taking the two-day worldwide total to Rs 46.70 crore. 

As far as the collections in the Hindi version are concerned, the earnings witnessed an upward trend, with Rs 3 crore coming on the second day after Rs 2.10 crore on Friday.

Surprisingly, the other movie to release with it, ‘Zero’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif saw a drop of 10 per cent in the collections on Saturday.

'KGF: Chapter 1' also stars Srinidhi Shetty and has been directed by Prashanth Neel. The story is set in the Kolar Gold Fields of Karnataka in the '50s. The Hindi version of the movie has been backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment.
