As the country honours the sacrifices of the martyrs in the Pulwama attack, a feature film on another hero who laid his life for the country, is set to hit the theatres. A biopic on Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, one of the brave names who was martyred in the 26/11 attack, is being produced by Mahesh Babu. The film titled ‘Major’ will feature Adivi Sesh stepping into the shoes of the National Security Guard Commando.
Sandeep was among the officers at the forefront against the terrorists who went on a rampage at various spots in Mumbai on 26 November 2008. He was martyred after he saved the lives of 14 persons who were held as hostages by the terrorists.
The Tollywood superstar took to social media to share his 'honour' of bringing on screen the life of the ‘national hero’ with a poster highlighting his uniform and his shooting equipment.
Adivi termed it ‘Major news’, calling it his ‘dream project’ and added that he was ‘pinching’ himself about the fact that Mahesh was producing the movie.
The film is reportedly Mahesh’s debut as a producer, his banner G Mahesh Babu Entertainment’s first venture. It also marks the first project for Sony Pictures in Telugu cinema, while A+S Movies are also a part of the collaboration. The film will be helmed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and will be a bilingual, also releasing in Hindi in 2020.
