Miss Philippines Catriona Gray has been crowned as the 67th Miss Universe at the pageant that was held in Thailand. The official social media handle of the Miss Universe pageant released this information.
In a video that they released, the two finalists Catriona and Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green can be seen holding hands as they nervously wait for the announcement. Steve Harvey, who was hosting the precious pageant, took his sweet time and created enough tension that made the moment even more memorable. Soon Catriona was handed over a bouquet and a sash as the crowd cheered on. Finally, the Miss Universe 2017 winner Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters passed on the crown to the new champion.
The three finalists who had made the cut were Catriona, Tamaryn and Miss Venezuela Isabella Rodriguez. Coming back to the winner, Catriona is a model of Filipino and Australian descent. She is also a television host, singer, model, stage actress and beauty pageant titleholder. She studied at the Trinity Anglican School in Cairns, Australia and later on got her Certificate in Music Theory from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
Meanwhile, India had also participated in the pageant with Nehal Chudasama representing the country. She was one of the 94 contestants who participated in this mega event but could make it in the top 20. Other than Miss Universe, the Miss World pageant was also held recently where Vanessa Ponce De Leon from Mexico was crowned as the 68th Miss World pageant held in Sanya, China. Manushi Chillar from India who was the reigning Miss World in 2017, passed on the baton to Vanessa in a landmark moment.
