  • Nagarjuna-starrer 'Devdas' and Mani Ratnam's 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' are all set to clash at the box office as they are slated for release on September 27

Clashes at the box office are not a new thing. In the past, big movies were slated to release on the same dates. Recent instances include Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees' clashing with Hrithik Roshan's 'Kaabil' and Ajay Devgn's 'Shivaay' with Karan Johar's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. This time it is the South Indian film industry which will witness the clash of two big movies.

Nagarjuna's 'Devdas' and Mani Ratnam's 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' are slated to hit the box office on September 27.

'CHEKKA CHIVANTHA VAANAM'

One of the most awaited Tamil films of the year, 'Chekka Chuvantha Vaanam' is a crime thriller with power-packed action. Co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie stars Aravind Swamy and Vijay Sethupati in pivotal roles. It has a large ensemble cast including names like Silambarasan, Jyothika, Arun Vijay and Aditi Rao Hydari. A.R. Rahman has composed the music of the film. The film will also be released in Telugu. 

'DEVDAS'

A Telugu action comedy, 'Devdas' stars Nagarjuna, Nani, Rashmika Mandanna and Aakanksha Singh in main roles. The music has been composed by Mani Sharma. Nagarjuna is playing a don in the film, while Nani will be seen essaying the role of a doctor. Rashmika and Aakanksha will be seen playing the love interests of Nagarjuna's character.

Both the movies have some big names associated with them. 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' and 'Devdas' have created a lot of buzz and interest among the public. The music of Mani Ratnam's venture, given by A R Rahman, is winning hearts all over.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR NAGARJUNA?

The 60-year old actor will next be seen in Karan Johar's 'Brahmastra'. He will be appearing in a Hindi movie after about 15 years as he was last seen in J P Dutta's 'LOC Kargil' in 2003. 'Brahmastra' also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
