On Jayalalitha’s Second Death Anniversary, First Poster Of Nithya Menen As ‘Iron Lady’ Unveiled

On the occasion of J Jayalalitha’s second death anniversary on 5 December, the makers unveiled the poster of Nithya Menen in the biopic on the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. The movie has been titled as ‘The Iron Lady’ and promises to trace the ‘story of a revolutionary leader’. The poster was shared by the director A Priyadhaarshini, with hashtags like #WeMissUAmma, what she was fondly addressed by over the years.

The poster also describes the leader as ‘India’s Margaret Thatcher’, a term often alluded to her in the past. Nithya’s smile and the round ‘bindi’ on her forehead will instantly remind viewers of the initial days of the politician, who had begun her career as an actress.

Nithya also to Twitter to convey her prayers and respects to the ‘Iron Lady’ ‘Jayalalitha Amma’ on her second commemorative day.

The title of the movie was announced in September this year and was unveiled by veteran filmmaker A R Murugadoss. Nithya was named as the lead actress shortly after. The shooting is reportedly set to start in 2019 and also release in the same year. 

Apart from ‘Iron Lady’, Nithya also is set to make her Bollywood debut with ‘Mission Mangal’ which also features Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Kirti Kulhari among others. The movie is being produced by R Balki and Fox Star Studios and is directed by Jagan Shakti. The plot of the movie traces India's Mars Mission. The film had also made headlines for a controversy after a US-based filmmaker had accused the makers of 'borrowing' her story.
