Vijay starrer 'Sarkar' might be facing some controversies at the moment but the people are definitely with the film and its makers. The movie enjoyed a massive opening worldwide and in just two days has created a revolution at the box office. Now, it looks like the film is ready to beat some real records. The AR Murugadoss directorial has minted an astonishing Rs 100 crores approximately in terms of worldwide collections in just the first two days. The film broke the opening collections of Rajinikanth's 'Kaala' at the Chennai box office. The political drama earned close to Rs 64 Crore worldwide on its first day, which meant that it surpassed Baahubali 2: The Conclusion's starting figures as it was screened across 3400 theaters around the globe.
On the second day, Sarkar minted Rs 42 Crore worldwide, which takes the total collections to a whopping Rs 106 Crore. This is an incredible feat in Ilayathalapathy's career as well as for Tamil cinemas as a whole. Meanwhile, thanks to the political nature of the film, it has drawn the ire of the Tamilnadu state government. The AIADMK led government demanded that certain scenes be cut from the film, which has led to a heated war of words on social media. The film's director was visited by the police as well, leading to speculation on whether he would be arrested or not.
Finally, the makers relented and have agreed to cut out the portions which the government finds offensive. However, Sarkar has received solidarity from the Tamil film fraternity with juggernauts like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan extending their support and condemning the actions of the state government.
