Amidst the political controversy surrounding Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's decision to also contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad, apart from Congress party’s bastion in Amethi, dairy giant Amul did not waste a chance to wade into the election fray, creating one of its iconic 'utterly delicious' cartoons that captures the current mood of the country.

Amul on Tuesday evening tweeted a cartoon with a caricature of Rahul Gandhi holding slices of bread in each hand and standing on a stage delivering a speech. The caricature was accompanied by a quote asking the Congress to contest from Wayanad in Kerala with a slice of Amul butter. They wrote: “Wayanad have it with butter?" Right below the tag, it used a catchphrase for Congress chief Rahul Gandhi as: “Amethi ka paratha.” The picture was captioned as “Amul topical: Congress President to contest from two seats in Lok Sabha 2019."

The decision on Rahul Gandhi candidature was announced through a press conference where it was sold to the public as the party workers' request to him to fight from the South as well.

However, the reasoning didn't cut the mustard with the BJP. Hours after Republic TV's newsbreak that Rahul Gandhi may contest from Wayanad, Smriti Irani who will contest against him from Amethi, wrote:

Amul has kept up its long-standing tradition of coming up with topical doodles on film releases, celebrity weddings and political developments in the nation.

This is the second post by Amul on Lok Sabha elections 2019, the first being about the 900 million voters taking part in the upcoming general elections.

Earlier, Amul had also caricatured Rahul Gandhi's infamous 'hug' and 'wink' during the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister:
