Tamil comedy legend and dialogue writer Crazy Mohan passes away at 67, Actor Kamal Haasan pens an emotional tribute and says, "Friendship has no end"

Renowned Tamil writer, actor and comedy giant Crazy Mohan breathed his last here on Monday after he suffered a major heart attack. He was 67.

Renowned Tamil writer, actor and comedy giant Crazy Mohan breathed his last here on Monday after he suffered a major heart attack. He was 67.

The veteran started off as an engineering graduate, But because of his enthusiasm and passion towards drama and stage play, he started his own drama group called Crazy creations which shot to fame in Chennai in the 80s. His stage plays entertained the urban crowd and over the span of his career, he has created over 30 plays on his own and performed over 6,500 stages.

In his later years, the veteran entered the teleserial genre and then progressed into the film industry as a screenplay and dialogue writer.

Famously known for his witty jokes which attracted everyone, Crazy Mohan created a new style within the genre of comedy. One can say that strong wordplay was his key strength. 

In the later 80s, he started writing screenplay and dialogues for the films and also appeared in cameo roles which was well appreciated by the audience. Films including 'Michael Madhan Kama Rajan', 'Magalir mattum', 'Sathi Leelavathi', 'Abborva saghodhardargal', 'Avvai Shanmugi', 'Mr. Romeo', 'Arunachalam', 'Kadhala Kahala', 'Thenali', 'Panchathanthiram', 'Pammal K Sammandham', and 'Vasool Raja MBBS', bear his name. 

Although he was introduced into the film industry by the legendary film director K Balachandar, Crazy Mohan worked with a wide range of directors starting from 1983 until the recent past. 

Crazy Mohan also shares a special bond with actor Kamal Haasan as they have worked together in many films which turned into laugh riots, The dialogues of Crazy Mohan combined with dialect and delivery of Kamal Haasan took comedy to next level which cannot be recreated again.

Kamal Haasan in his grief obituary note has called Crazy Mohan as a pinnacle of the comedy genre. He also mentioned that crazy Mohan will stay alive with the audience and with him through his creations.

As Kamal Haasan mentioned in his obituary note, Crazy Mohan will be remembered by the Tamil audience until the genre of comedy exists in the film and his dialogues will be part of the Tamil audience each and every day.
