Telugu cinema brought forth a lot of gems in the previous year. One of the best of the lot was the film 'C/O Kancharapalem' which stands for 'Care of Kancharapalem', which released on September 7 last year. The film won immense critical acclaim and was Tollywood's big ticket in this year's National Awards. However, it looked like that would not be possible as the film was not eligible due to a small technicality.

It turns out that one of the film's producers, Paruchuri Vijaya, is a US citizen and hence the film is not a complete Indian product. Hence, by rule, it was deemed ineligible and was ousted from the National Awards race, which left the makers really disheartened. After this development, 'Baahubali' actor Rana Daggubati and Telangana Rashtra Samiti President K.T.Rama Rao stood up for the film.

Taking to Twitter, K.T.R addressed former Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley and current Information and Broadcasting Minister Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore as he wrote, "I appeal to Union I&B Minister Sri @arunjaitley Ji and MoS @Ra_THORe  Ji to kindly review the below appeal. National awards are a matter of pride for all filmmakers. An award cannot be denied for a #MadeInIndia product because of archaic rules that are redundant in today’s India."

Turns out that the appeal worked for Union Minister Rathore himself promptly responded with, "Dear @KTRTRS ji, my officer has spoken to @paruchurimd. These are NATIONAL FILM AWARDS & require a producer or at least one co-producer to b Indian. My officer has guided @Paruchurimd on the possibility of her application for same. She can also apply for Int competition section IFFI 2019."

After the appeal was raised by her, which was backed Rana and K.T.Rama Rao, the film has finally received the green light to compete for National Awards, a joyous Paruchuri informed her followers on social media. She also thanked Union Minister Col Rathore and K.T.R for their prompt responses.

Rana Daggubati too responded to K.T.R's tweet and thanked him for the appeal as he wrote, "Thank you so much for your support." The actor is connected to the film as his father Suresh Daggubati is one of the co-producers in the film.

The appeal was initially raised by Paruchuri Vijaya who lamented and apologised to the film's director Maha Venkatesh as she wrote, "SO SORRY @venkateshmaha25 #CareOfKancharapalem, your hard work and talent is NOT ELIGIBLE to be recognized at the #indiannationalfilmawards because it was Produced by me- a US citizen although of Indian origin ...I failed you."
