Veteran Malayalam Actor Captain Raju Passes Away At The Age Of 68

The veteran Malayalam actor Captain Raju passed away at his residence in Kochi, Kerala at the age of 68. Earlier in June, while travelling from Kochi to the United States, to attend his son's marriage, the actor suffered a massive stroke and was shifted to a hospital in Muscat.

The veteran Malayalam actor Captain Raju passed away at his residence in Kochi, Kerala at the age of 68. Earlier in June, while travelling from Kochi to the United States, to attend his son's marriage, the actor suffered a massive heart stroke and was shifted to a hospital in Muscat. However, after a week's treatment in Muscat, he was airlifted back on Kochi on July 2. The veteran actor made his debut with the film called ' 'Raktham' in 1981, and then went on to star in other Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films. In his long-spanning career for nearly four decades, he was also featured in a wide range of Hindi and English films and has a total of 500 films to his credit. His sad demise has come as a great shock to the entire film fraternity.

The actor is called 'Captain' because of his army background and has directed two films, besides appearing in a number of Malayalam serials. Known as quite a versatile performer, Captain Raju hailed from Omalur in Pattanamthitta district and is known for acting in various serious as well as comical films. Captain Raju's real name is Raju Daniel and 'Nadodikkattu' is among Captain Raju's most famous films. He was noted for his character roles as a villain and although most of his films fared well at the box office, he is known for his finest performances in films such as 'Pavanayi' and 'Mr. Pavanayi 99.99.' 'Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha,' and ' Oru CBI Diary Kurippu' to name a few. Due to his physique, he was mostly cast as a villain and was last seen in a 2017 film 'Masterpiece'. 

The actor has starred in around 500 Malayalam films and has also been a part of numerous projects in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi as well and was survived by his wife  Prameela and son Ravi Raju. Captain Raju was born on Jun 27, 1950. He graduated from the Catholic College, Pathanamthitta in Kerala.
