The internet is known for often circulating interesting mind-games which are highly appreciated by the users, and going with the trend, recently a maths puzzle has surfaced on social media platforms that have left netizens scratching their heads. A Twitter user named KJ Cheetham has recently baffled netizens with a seemingly simple math equation and asked them to make sense of it.

He has put out a post asking people to solve "230 - 220 x 0.5" and wrote, "You probably won’t believe it but the answer is 5!"

Anyone aware of the BODMAS rule can verbally solve the equation and derive that the answer is 120 (Explanation: 220 x 0.5 = 110, 230 - 110 = 120). But how the user said that the answer should be '5!' has left netizens confused. The post has collected over 29,000 retweets and twice as many likes since it was shared online.

Here's how netizens have reacted to the post:

However, math junkie's didn't take long to make sense of it. The catch is on the overlooked exclamation mark after the 5. It is actually a factorial ('n!'), which means that "5!" is actually "5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1", and the answer is 120.

Were you able to make sense of the equation in the first place?
