Rajinikanth is one of those stars whose reputations precedes him. Whether anyone has seen his movies or not, they are well aware of the phenomenon that he is on and off the screen. Recently, the makers of 'Petta' released the much-awaited trailer of the film. 

The two and a half minute trailer starts with Vijay Sethupath's voice, that reveals that Rajinikanth is playing the character titled of Kaali, who is said to be a hostel warden with a violent past. On the other hand, Simran plays the role of a college teacher with Trisha appearing in flashback portions.

The netizens have of course gone gaga over this electrifying trailer as they praised it with all kinds of superlatives.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran, 'Petta' is scripted and directed by 'Pizza' fame Karthik Subbaraj, who will mark the film to be his fifth full-length feature. Besides Rajinikanth, the film also stars Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, M. Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Guru Somasundaram, Megha Akash, Sananth Reddy, Ramdoss, Malavika Mohanan, Deepak Paramesh, and Manikandan R. Achari. As per media reports, the film includes a lot of computer graphics for which Prime Focus has been signed up to take care of the VFX. However, the shooting of the film is continuing in several locations including Varanasi, Lucknow and Darjeeling.
