Yash has sprung a huge surprise with the recent release ‘KGF: Chapter 1’, and its success might just usher in new changes in the Kannada film industry. The movie has brought the spotlight back on films in other languages to be dubbed into Kannada, to tap into the audience base that welcomed ‘KGF’ with open arms.

Rajinikanth’s next release ‘Petta’ is set to become the first such venture to be dubbed in Kannada following the success of ‘KGF: Chapter 1.’

According to reports, the dialogues for the Kannada version have already been written, and the dubbing is currently in process. The makers are likely to make an announcement soon about the Kannada version after the work is completed. Telugu movie ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani is also likely to release in Kannada as well.

There has been a debate on dubbing movies in Kannada; the general perception is to discourage it as it’s assumed that the movies affect the Kannada films and the film industry.

Last year, Tamil movie ‘Vivegam’ was released in Kannada, but that was only after an intervention from the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

'KGF: Chapter 1' has beaten records galore, becoming the highest-grossing Kannada movie of all time and also the first to cross the Rs 100-crore mark at the global box office.
