Priyanka Chopra is on cloud nine at the moment, with her wedding just a few weeks away. After celebrating a grand bachelorette, the actress is back in the country and rang in Diwali with her family. Now, she is ready to get back to business, but in the form of a producer this time. PeeCee, who is no stranger to funding regional films, will do so once again in the digital space for the Netflix movie 'Firebrand'. This Marathi flick follows a woman's journey after she goes through sexual assault. The actress will be co-producing it with her mother Madhu Chopra. Before this, her production house Purple Pebble Pictures has bankrolled six films in four different languages so far. But it is not just the desi girl who is taking charge.
Anushka Sharma has also jumped in on the venture as she will be producing 'Bulbul', a period piece that will look at age-old customs and traditions. Other than the two, veteran actress Madhuri Dixit Nene will also fund a Netflix original in Marathi titled as '15 August' which will show the struggle of middle-class Indians in a satirical manner. Overall, it looks like Netflix has some ambitious plans for India as it is set to make nine original films soon, of which the three are backed by these Bollywood actresses.
Meanwhile, Priyanka has also added another feather in her cap as she will be featuring in People's 25 Women Changing The World with top Hollywood stars and international activists. She had also done a brief segment for the same in which she had shared how working with UNICEF for many years has really changed her perspective on life. PeeCee added that it really made her think about the privileges she had that she took for granted at one point.
