Colin Jost and Michael Che from the 'Saturday Night Live' hosted the evening that saw a diverse range of wins. While Emmy nominees nervously waited to hear their name, it was 'The Crown' actress Claire Foy that bagged the award for Lead Actress In Drama Series for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II. Foy’s role has come to an end and she emotionally referenced her time on the show and promised that she wouldn’t cry. (She didn’t.)

It is Foy’s first Emmy win on her second nomination for the Netflix series, which tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II’s rise to the throne in the upheaval of post-World War II Britain.

'The Americans' star Matthew Rhys won Lead Actor In A Drama Series for his impeccable performance. "Joe Weisberg, parts like these come along so rarely, what you created and risked, I will be forever in your debt," he said.
