Game of Thrones prequel: House Of The Dragon facts you should know

The excitement has been soaring high for all fans of Game of Thrones since HBO has declared a new series as a prequel to the show. House Of The Dragon will be an altogether different prequel consisting of the history of House Targaryen. While fans are still waiting with bated breath for more details to be divulged about the show, there are some interesting facts surrounding the show that you should know. The show, House Of The Dragon is reportedly based on another unfinished book by Game Of Thrones author, George RR Martin. The show will give a detailed accounting of how the House Targaryen established their reign over Westeros.

The show House of the Dragon will air 10 episodes 

The show is still on a very nascent stage so the makers have still not announced the overall structure plan of the series. But, there will reportedly be around 10 episodes which was also the standard number in the GOT series except in the last two seasons. The series is expected to begin from Aegon Targaryen's conquest. It may consist of the brief accounting of the conquest when Aegon 1 had come to Westeros along with his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys and had successfully brought six out of the seven kingdoms under the Targaryen rule.

The show will have no familiar faces from the GOT series

The series will reportedly also showcase all the intricate details about House Targaryen. The fans are reportedly expecting the presence of the dragon Balerion The Black Dread who was the largest dragon in Westeros and belonged to Aegon. His sisters were also in possession of the dragons, Vhagar and Meraxes respectively. However one cannot expect to see the familiar faces from the GOT series on the show as House Of The Dragon takes place 300 years before the incidents of The Song Of Ice and Fire. There will be some new faces from House Lannister, Stark and Baratheon who will be essaying the role of the ancestors of the GOT characters. The Game Of Thrones prequel will be helmed by Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal. However, the makers have not revealed any details about the cast members of the show.
