After his alleged abusive Twitter rant on Friday, stand-up comedian-turned-actor Kapil Sharma has filed a police complaint against journalist Vickey Lalwani and his ex-managers Preeti and Neeti Simoes for trying to extort Rs 25 lakh from him.
Kapil Sharma has alleged that Vickey Lalwani started a false and malicious propaganda to defame him in digital media after he refused to pay him the amount.
In his police complaint, Kapil has alleged harassment by journalist Vickey Lalwani on the insistence of his ex-managers Preeti and Neeti.
Preeti and Neeti were also the creative directors of his previous TV show 'The Kapil Sharma Show'.
The complaint also states that negative reports by Lalwani’s web portal started affecting his mental and emotional health as false and malicious comments were made about his career, finance, and relationships.

On Friday, Kapil Sharma left netizens confused after allegedly posting a series of abusive tweets in defense of Bollywood actor Salman Khan who was convicted and sentenced to five years in jail in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case. Kapil Sharma also allegedly targeted Lalwani’s media house for publishing fake news and spreading negative coverage. He allegedly added that if he were the Prime Minister of India, he would have sentenced the creators of fake news to death by hanging.
The abusive tweets, however, were soon deleted from Kapil Sharma’s Twitter page.
On Saturday, Kapil Sharma in a new tweet clarified that it was his team that had deleted his tweets and not him. Abusing the journalist yet again, he said that he is not scared of the ‘paid’ reporter and called him ‘shameless’.

The actor-comedian rose to fame after winning ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ a decade ago. The win led to several others shows for him, finally landing him ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’.
Kapil has been going through a rough patch in his career as well as in his personal life. It all started with infamous mid-night brawl with actor Sunil Grover. Followed by which Grover left his show along with other artists including Ali Asgar.
Last year, Kapil, 37, had confessed that he was suffering from depression and had undergone treatment for the same.
Kapil Sharma made his comeback on the small screen on March 25, with his much-awaited show 'Family Time With Kapil Sharma'. Speculations were rife that ‘Family Time With Kapil Sharma’ might end up going off air soon after negative reviews. However, according to the recent Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings, Kapil Sharma's 'Family Time With Kapil Sharma' seems to have won hearts across the nation, contrary to earlier reports. Besides TV shows, Kapil Sharma has worked in Bollywood films like ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’ and ‘Firangi’.
