Paliwal’s daughter died in 2006, and the Karamveer Shyam Sunder Paliwal took the pain he had and turned it into something beautiful. He started a mission, to plant trees and celebrate the birth of a girl child. He was saddened by the fact that instead of loving their own children, parents would kill their baby girl. He was aware of the practice of female infanticide in his village and was hurt by it. He, as the head of the village, tried to change the mindset of the villagers and changed their ways. When a girl was born in their village, a person from the family would push a grain into her mouth which would cause an infection. And that would lead to the premature death of the child. He worked hard to change this and now the birth of every girl child in the village is celebrated and not looked down upon.
