For those who have been a '90s kid, this might come as a shocker. Popular television show CID, that has been running from over past 20 years is going off air. The show's last episode will be aired on October 28, 2018. Although the show is going off air, reports suggest that it will be back soon after three months with a few changes to bring in a new thrilling experience for the viewers. The show that went on air in 1998 has clocked more than 1,540 episodes. 

The channel issued a statement saying that it has been a great journey so far. Read the statement below: 

Having completed 20 years, CID, is the longest running cult show on Sony Entertainment Television. It has been a great journey so far, along with Fireworks Productions, and CID will now take an intermittent break starting 28th October, 2018. The last episode of the show will be aired on 27th October, 2018. The show will gear up for a renewed season with a lot more contextual cases keeping alive the thrill that the audience has experienced so far.

Although the decision has left viewers disappointed. The longest-running show is taking a break after 21 years and one can say that the fans can't keep calm. Many Netizens took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to express their views on the decision.

CID has been an all-time favourite for the ones who saw the inception of 24/7 broadcast television back in the 90s. The series is a fictional investigative show which consists of criminal cases that are taken head on and dealt to detail by Crime Investigation Department members. Few popular names from the show that became a household name and a part of pop-culture phenomenon include ACP Pradyuman, Senior Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya and Inspector Fredricks, Sub-Inspectors Purvi and Pankaj and forensic experts Dr. Salunkhe and Dr. Tarika. 

The show stars an ensemble cast of Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, Dayanand Shetty, Dinesh Phadnis, Narendra Gupta, Shraddha Musale, Ansha Sayed and Ajay Nagrath in key roles and many others as recurring actors on the show. Fans, who have been disappointed with the news, took to their Twitter handle to share their thoughts.
