Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has sparked controversy following his comments on the dastardly Pulwama terror attack. The Punjab cabinet minister who appears on 'The Kapil Sharma Show' has been asked to step down, following his comments initiated an uproar on social media, with many people asking for his removal from the show. As per media reports, he will be replaced by Archana Puran Singh on the show, who has shot for two episodes as a temporary replacement of Siddhu.
After keeping silence for a long time, Kapil Sharma, the host of the television show expressed his views on the same and said that removing Sidhu from the show isn't a permanent solution. On Monday at an event in Chandigarh, the comedian spoke up on the row and said banning Navjot Singh Sidhu from the show is not the solution. We need to look for a permanent solution.
While addressing the media at the event, Kapil said, "I am with the government and the country and support its decision completely. I think we should focus on the problem instead of these petty things like removing Sidhu ji from the show, because it won't serve the bigger cause. If the issue like terrorism was resolved with Sidhu ji exiting the show, then he himself would left."
These are very small things, or can also be a part of propaganda. Running hashtags like 'Ban Sidhu from Kapil Sharma Show' or 'Ban Kapil Sharma Show' are to distract the youth from the main issue. Our soldiers have been martyred and the entire country is mourning the loss, so there must be a concrete solution to combat these attacks," he added.
As per media reports, the actor-comedian further clarified that since Navjot Singh Sidhu is busy with his prior commitments, Archana Puran Singh is shooting in his place for the show.
Following the Pulwama terrorist attack that killed 40 CPRF Jawans in a suicide bombing by Pakistani terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, Sidhu said, "I am saddened. The bigger point is that it is a cowardly act. Terrorists have no religion, nation, and caste. There is no doubt that a diamond cuts a diamond, a fire kills a fire and anti-dote of poison is poison. However, in places where this kind of situation occurs or war takes place, there is always a parallel dialogue. There should be a permanent solution to this"
Navjot Singh Sidhu's remark continues his almost year-long trend of championing India's terror-friendly neighbor and putting the Indian government down. Previously, he had caused controversy by hugging Pak Army chief Bajwa while attending the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan as Pakistan prime minister last year.
Later, at the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan, Sidhu had posed for photos with an aide of 26/11 terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed and then allowed India to be embarrassed at the global stage as he and Imran Khan engaged in a bonhomie deliberately meant to belittle the presence of official government representatives.
