Oscars 2024: Face of the Faceless snubbed in Best Original Score, Original Song categories

Another chance at Indian representation at the Oscars seems to have met its end. The Vincy Aloshius starrer The Face of the Faceless, had entered the eligibility list for Best Original Song. Vincy Aloshius had also made an official announcement regarding the same. However, Face of the Faceless appears to have been snubbed at the Oscars 2024, as per the shortlisted titles released on December 21.

The Face of the Faceless fails to make it to Oscars shortlist

The Face of the Faceless had several contenders as part of the Oscars race - specifically for the musical categories. The songs in the running were Barala Tribal Song, Ek Sapna Mera Suhana, and Jalta Hai Suraj, all composed by Alphons Joseph. Vincy Aloshius had also taken to her Instagram handle to share the news with her fans and followers.

The post carried a poster of the film which read, 'It's official our film The Face of the Faceless has been selected for the Oscars 2024" The caption to Vincy's post read, "Happiest!" followed by smiling emoticons. For the unversed, The Face of the Faceless has been directed by Shaison P. Ouseph and has been written by Jayapal Ananthan. The movie is based on the life and death of Sr. Rani Maria, both dedicated to the vulnerable.

Oscars 2023 proved to be a momentous occasion for India as 2 Oscars came home to the country - one of them being for RRR song Naatu Naatu in the Best Original Song category. This time, the shortlist carries no Indian title. Barbie, The Colour Purple and Flora and Son hold several ranks on the list with multiple songs.
