Alia Bhatt Vs Divya Khossla Kumar: The release of Jigra has been marred with several controversies. First, the actress' casting in the movie was said to be driven by nepotism, second following the release several social media users claimed that the makers had been projecting a fake box office collection of the film. Amid this T-Series Chairman's wife Divya Khossla Kumar took to her Instagram account to share that Alia Bhatt 's movie has been running in empty theatres and the makers have been using corporate bookings to show houseful collections.

Divya Khossla Kumar launches scathing attack at Alia Bhatt

On October 12, a day after the release of Jigra, Divya Khossla Kumar launched a scathing attack on Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt over the latter’s recently released theatrical movie Jigra. Divya accused Alia of putting up fake collections as she said, "Khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye". The Savi actress took to the Stories section of her Instagram, and shared a picture of an empty theatre running the show of Jigra.

She wrote in the picture, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty ... all theaters going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai, khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra”.

Divya seemingly hit out at Jigra makers for ‘copying’ the story similar to her last release Savi. Interestingly, Divya’s Savi is said to follow the same jailbreak story as that of Alia’s Jigra (the only difference being in ‘Savi’, the titular character played by Divya carries out prison break of her husband, and in Jigra, Alia takes her brother out of the prison).

Earlier, in an interview, Jigra director Vasan Bala claimed that the film's producer took the raw script of the film to Alia Bhatt without discussing it with him first. Social media users alleged that Alia was not the first choice of the director and has casting in the movie was a product of nepotism. Amid this, claims of fake box office collection made things tougher for Jigra. Without directly mentioning Divya, the producer of Jigra took to their Instagram account to share a quote on the importance of silence.  This was followed by Divya Khossla Kumar putting another story that read, “When you are shamelessly accustomed to stealing what rightfully belongs to others, you will always seek shelter in silence. You will have no voice, no spine.”

How did Ranbir Kapoor come in between in Jigra controversy?

Amid the scathing attacks by Divya Khossla Kumar, social media users pointed out that the Savi actress is married to Bhushan Kumar, who is the chairman of T-Series. The production house has backed the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal which was helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Released in 2023, the film became one of the highest-grossing movies in Bollywood and Kapoor's highest-grossing film ever. A sequel to the movie is in the works and Ranbir is preparing for the same.

However, Divya's spat with Alia Bhatt has prompted netizens to speculate if Ranbir Kapoor will distance himself from T-Series to side with his wife. Ranbir and Alia tied the knot in April 2022 and they welcomed their daughter Raha in November of the same year.
