After enjoying its run at the box office in the first weekend, Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk starrer Bad Newz witnessed a major dip in the collection. On the first weekday, which is Monday, the movie could manage to earn in the single digit - ₹3.75 crore. However, with makers announcing the Buy 1 Get 1 offer on the movie tickets, Tuesday witnessed a slight spike in the collection.
Helmed by Anand Tiwari, the movie managed to maintain its hold on the fifth day and minted ₹3.80 crore. Adding the five-dady collection, the total business stands at ₹38.17 crore in India, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. It seems, the collection got an extra push because of the offer. Urban centres continue to perform well but the business in Mumbai is severely impacted by non-stop torrential rain. Bad Newz had an overall 13.77 per cent Hindi occupancy on Tuesday with maximum occupancy reported in Jaipur (20.25 per cent).
According to Taran Adarsh, the movie's business is on track and is likely to collect ₹45 crore in its first week. "[Week 1] Fri 8.62 cr, Sat 10.55 cr, Sun 11.45 cr, Mon 3.75 cr, Tue 3.80 cr. Total: ₹ 38.17 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice," an excerpt from the post read.
The comedy-drama is inspired by true events. It revolves around heteropaternal superfecundation, a reproductive process in which twins are born to the same mother, but from different biological fathers. Produced by Dharma Productions and Leo Media Collective, the movie also stars Neha Dhupia in a key role. It is a spiritual sequel to Good Newwz (2019), starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh.
