Kalki 2898 AD: Prabhas Starrer Beats RRR, Becomes 3rd Highest-Grossing South Indian Film In Hindi

Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD minted approximately Rs 4.85 crore net collection in Hindi on its fourth Sunday, taking the total to over Rs 200 crore.

Kalki 2898 AD, helmed by Nag Ashwin, is unstoppable at the box office. Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan, the movie has been creating history since it released on June 27. Speaking of which, the sci-fi thriller has become the third-highest-grossing South Indian movie at the Hindi box office.

Kalki 2898 AD beats RRR at Hindi box office

The movie minted approximately Rs 4.85 crore net collection on its fourth Sunday, taking the total collection to approximately Rs 276 crore net in just 25 days in Hindi. This has made Kalki 2898 AD, the third biggest South Indian movie in the dubbed version, beating SS Rajamouli's directorial, RRR. It is the third South Indian movie to enter the 200 crores net club in Hindi.

SS Rajamouli and Prabhas' Baahubali 2 remains the top South Indian grosser at the Hindi box office with approximately Rs 511 crores net, followed by Yash starrer KGF: Chapter 2 with Rs 435 crores.

Now, the next stop for the movie at the Hindi box office is Rs 300 crore.

Kalki 2898 AD falls into legal trouble

As per a report in ANI, former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam sent a notice to the producers and actors of Kalki 2898 AD for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. In the notice, Krishmam said that Kalki 2898 AD changed the "basic concept" about Lord Kalki from what has been written in Hindu Puranic Scriptures. For the said reasons, the portrayal and depiction of the story of Lord Kalki is "wholly inaccurate and also blatantly disrespectful to these sacred texts, which are central to the religious beliefs and practices of a vast number of devotees, numbering in the hundreds of crores," as per a report in ANI.
