Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor released in cinema halls last year in December. Even though it turned out to be a box office hit, minting over ₹1000 crore at the global box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing films in 2023, the content in the film and the portrayal of "alpha male" divided the audiences.

Now, Kangana, who will be seen in Emergency next, has openly criticised Animal and even questioned the logic behind the violence shown in the film.

Kangana talks about 'alpha male' in Animal

Kangana told Siddharth Kanan, "People resort to becoming alpha males to fool others with their wrong deeds. Such actions might make people enjoy for some time but they will fall face down. When you don't have understanding of something, you want to exploit that... If you are alpha male then why are you being Raavan? Be Ram."

The actor-turned-politician added, "In films, too, they are showing fights, hooliganism. They are encouraging and misleading youth. There is a consequence to everything and they should take onus for it." When asked if there is sexism in Bollywood, Kangana replied, "of course there is".

Kangana criticises patriarchal films like Animal

Commenting on the commercial success of Animal, the BJP MP said, "Box office pe bawaal machati hai patriarchal film, oho. Dekh ke lagta hai ki kahan se nikal rahe hain yeh log taaliyan seetiyaan marne? Kulhaadi leke agar ladke nikle aur maara maar khoon sirf kulhaadi leke nikle hue hain. Na koi unko law and order pooch raha hai kuch. Machine guns leke voh school main jaate hain, jaise ki police hai hi nahi. Jaise ki uske consequences hain hi nahi."

She further criticised the film for not showing the consequences of indulging in violent action. “Law and order hai hi nahi, laasho ke dher hain. Kyu? Masti hai chhai hui hai. Na voh lok kalyaan ke liye hai, na voh sarhado ke liye hai, na voh jann kalyaan ke liye hai. Bas masti main hai. Drugs karke mast hain. Aur kya janta nikalti hai usko dekhne ke liye. Aap janta ko bhi dekhiye," Kangana further stated.
