Maharaja: Aamir Khan To Reprise Vijay Sethupathi's Role In Hindi Remake? Here's What We Know

Vijay Sethupathi starrer Maharaja marked his 50th movie. It became the fastest worldwide grosser for a Tamil film in 2024 by grossing ₹81.8 crore.

Vijay Sethupathi starrer Maharaja earned positive reviews from the critics and became successful at the box office. It has emerged as the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 so far. In the movie, Vijay played the role of Maharaja, Jothi's adopted father. His acting and the storyline were praised by many and now it has been reported that the action-thriller will be remade in Hindi. The Hindi version will be headlined by Aamir Khan, as per Deccan Chronicle.

Aamir Khan to play a doting father in Hindi remake of Maharaja

Aamir Khan, who is busy with the shooting of his upcoming movie Sitaare Zameen Par, is all set to play a "doting father" in the Hindi version of Maharaja. A source told Deccan Chronicle, "Aamir has bought the remake rights of the film which is also doing well on OTT for its heart-wrenching content revolving around father and daughter but also has enough action to reach out to masses,” the source added.

The actor would play the father's role since he has tasted success with Dangal. The source added that Aamir doesn't mind playing a father if he likes the script.  "The movie like Maharaja would aptly fit into his scheme of things which harps on atrocities against girls and women becoming rampant across India," the source added.

What else do we know about Maharaja?

The movie marked Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film and earned ₹4.7 crore on its opening day and went on to gross an estimated ₹52.6 crore on its opening weekend. It crossed the ₹80 crore mark at the box office worldwide in the 10 days of its release, grossing ₹81.8 crore. It became the fastest worldwide grosser for a Tamil film in 2024 and the fastest film of Sethupathi to reach the ₹50 crore mark.
