Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's registered marriage happened on June 23 in the presence of their families and close friends. Soon after the wedding, Sonakshi was trolled for her interfaith wedding and rumours were rife that neither her parents nor brothers were happy with her decision. While Kussh, along with his wife attended the ceremony, Luv skipped it, hinting that the political connections of Zaheer’s father were the reason behind his absence.

Amid all this, Shatrughan Sinha dropped a post welcoming Zaheer in their family and showered love on him. In a recent interview, the yesteryear actor has reacted to the trolling.

In an interview with Galatta India, Sonakshi and Zaheer were shown a video clip in which Shatrughan Sinha, along with his wife Poonam Sinha, sent best wishes to the newlyweds. He called the couple "made for each other" and addressed the trolling. He said people tried to talk rubbish about the Sinha, but to him, the happiness of his children is paramount. He added Sonakshi didn't do anything unconstitutional or against the law.

“Logo ne kuch bhi kehne ki koshish ki, but for us, the happiness of our children is paramount, especially that of our daughter. Parents do a lot for their children, and this was our tiny contribution, to stand with our daughter," he said.

He added Sonakshi calls him a "pillar of strength" so it was his duty to remain that and live up to that expectation. "So, I have been standing next to her like a pillar. In her decision and happiness was our happiness,” he said in the clip.

Zaheer Iqbal recalls Shatrughan Sinha's reaction to him asking Sonakshi's hand in marriage

Earlier in an interview, Zaheer recalled how Shatrughan Sinha reacted when he asked Sonakshi's hand in marriage. He recalled Sinha being the ‘sweetest’ person he knows and being super chilled about his intentions of marrying Sonakshi. “I went over to their house, and I was nervous because, until that moment, I had never had a one-on-one chat with him. The moment we started talking, we began discussing a million things and we became like friends. Of course, I also told him that I wanted to ask her to marry me. I know he's got this image of being intimidating, but he's so genuine, chilled out and he is the sweetest person I've met in a long time," he said.
