The Mumbai Police has heightened the security at the ongoing Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding festivities. It happened when a post on X mentioning "a bomb" raised suspicion. The post turned out to be a hoax, as per multiple media reports, but the police have tightened security to ensure the safety of the high-profile guests present at the celebrations.
On July 13, an X user shared a post that reads, "A shameless thought crept into my mind that if a bomb went off at Ambani's wedding, half the world would turn upside down. Trillions of dollars in one pin code." This prompted the Mumbai police to heighten the security in and around the wedding venue which is the Jio World Convention Centre.
The police are investigating the matter and trying to identify the person, who dropped the post. A police officer was quoted saying to the portal, "The message has been taken as a hoax but the police team, which monitors social media posts, will definitely look into it." This post is still not deleted and can be viewed on the microblogging site, a police officer said.
In another incident, Anant and Radhika's wedding was gatecrashed by two individuals from Andhra Pradesh. As per ANI, two people entered the venue without an invitation. Out of the two accused, one has been identified as YouTuber Venkatesh Narasaiya Alluri (26). The other is Shafi Sheikh (28), who is a businessman. Separate cases have been registered against them. They came from Andhra Pradesh to attend the wedding. The police have released the accused after giving them notice and taking legal action in both cases.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant tied the knot on July 12. Their post-wedding ceremonies followed on July 13 and July 14. All the ceremonies took place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, BKC, Bandra, Mumbai.
