Deadpool And Wolverine hit the big screens on July 26 in India. The film features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in titular roles and opened to a staggering reception at the box office. Amid the fan frenzy, makers of the film Marvel India took to their official Instagram account to share a hilarious new poster of the action flick whilst giving a shoutout to Bollywood.
On July 27, a day after the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, Marvel India took to their official Instagram account to share a poster of the film in Bollywood style. Urging audiences to watch the movie in the theatre, the poster featured Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as their characters in the film. In his classic style, Deadpool can be seen leaning on Wolverine's shoulder while the latter looks annoyed. Bullet holes piercing through old papers (used for yesteryear Bollywood classics) adorned the background of the post.
Instead of the name of the film, the text ‘Phool Aur Kaante' written in Hindi adorned the poster. Phool Aur Kaante is a 1991 Hindi action-romance movie starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role with Madhoo, Aruna Irani, Jagdeep and Amrish Puri as supporting characters. A part of the poster shared by Marvel read, “Ab cinemagharo mein” (now in cinemas), in typical Hindi movie fashion. The post was shared with the caption, “Har phool par kaante hote hain" and has gone viral on social media.
Deadpool And Wolverine is the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a sequel to Deadpool and Deadpool 2. The movie opened to a record-breaking ₹22.3 crore in India, which remains higher than the day 1 collection of most Hindi films like Shaitaan, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Crew, Maidaan and others. The Ryan Reynolds starrer is second only to Fighter which opened to ₹22.5 crore.
Deadpool And Wolverine has also become the sixth highest-grossing Hollywood movie in India on day 1 ever. The movie has surpassed the opening-day collections of Thor Love And Thunder (2022) and Oppenheimer (2023) to clinch the sixth spot. As of now, 5 Hollywood movies have crossed the ₹30 Crore mark on day 1 of release in gross domestic collections. The films are - Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
