The highly anticipated collaboration between Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty and acclaimed filmmaker-turned-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon has faced a delay. The two are working together on two projects: the action thriller Bazooka and an untitled Malayalam film, which will mark Menon's directorial debut in the Malayalam film industry, as per multiple media reports.

Mammootty's project with Gautham Vasudev Menon stalled?

Originally, filming for the untitled project was set to begin on June 15, 2024. However, reports from OTT Play indicate that the start date has been postponed, with the first schedule now slated to begin in the first week of July 2024. While Chennai was initially chosen as the primary filming location, the production team has since decided on Kochi instead.

The untitled film is described as a dark crime thriller and boasts a stellar cast, including prominent actors from both the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. Mammootty will play the leading role, with a new actress reportedly cast as the female lead. In addition to this project, Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon are also sharing the screen in Bazooka, another eagerly awaited action thriller.

Despite the delay, excitement for the untitled film remains high among cinephiles. Meanwhile, Mammootty’s recently released action flick Turbo has performed well, grossing over Rs 33 crores at the Indian box office and expected to earn more in the coming days.
