Actor Bala Arrested On Charges Of Defamation And Cruelty Against Ex-wife Amrutha Surresh, Daughter

Tamil actor Bala was arrested by the police early on Monday, October 14, following a complaint by his ex-wife Amrutha Surresh, reported by news agency PTI. The police said that charges include defamation via social media, insulting womanhood and cruelty towards children. He is expected to be produced before a court soon, police said.

Earlier, the ex-couple raised allegations against each other through their social media pages. The singer had accused Bala of lying about his precious marriage and alleged domestic violence. Later their daughter had also uploaded a video alleging that she was mentally and physically abused by Bala.

Dismissing the claims made by his ex-wife and their daughter, he posted a video thanking him for acknowledging him as a father.

For the unversed, Bala and Amrutha got married in August 2010 and welcomed their daughter Avantika in September 2012. However, in 2019, they parted ways after living separately for four years.
