When Rajinikanth refused to shoot with Arunachalam co-star Rambha: We are from South, are we lesser?

Actress Rambha recently shared a nostalgic moment in a recent interview. Rambha's detailed interview brought to light surprising incidents from her past. The interview revealed a tense encounter with superstar Rajinikanth on the set of Arunachalam.

While giving an extensive interview to Tamil YouTube channel Cineulagam, Rambha revealed that during the shoot, a friendly gesture towards her co-star from Bandhan created an unexpected fiasco. Rajinikanth was upset by her differential behavior, and reprimanded the actress, leaving her in tears and causing a significant stir on the set. 

Rambha shared, “I was so confused and started crying as I heard that Rajinikanth has said he won't act with me. Then Rajinikanth came running, said 'Why are you making this child cry' and reprimanded everyone. I told him Sir I didn't do anything. Sir, what happened?”

Why was Rajinikanth so upset?

She further added how the Jailer star replied, “In the morning, when your co-star from Bandhan and everyone came, how did Rambha go and hug them? But when she comes to our set usually, she greets good morning sir good morning sir. So they are North heroes so you will do all that but since we are from the South, do you think we are lesser? ” The actress said that not only she but everyone on the set was stunned to hear this. She went on to say, “I had never seen Rajini sir like that. He said from tomorrow make all the light boys stand, Rambha has to give a hug the same way to everybody. Only then will there be shooting.”

Rambha then laughed at the whole incident. Post her marriage, Rambha settled in Canada and embraced a life away from the limelight. Although retired from acting, she occasionally appears on television shows as an analyst, providing insights and reviews.
