Thalapathy 68: Thalapathy Vijay film's first look launch postponed out of respect for Vijaykanth?
The makers of Thalapathy 68 have reportedly postponed the first look launch for the film, out of respect for Vijaykanth's recent demise.
Thalapathy Vijay is currently in the midst of filming for his next big banner release, Thalapathy 68. The cast and crew of the film were only recently in Bangkok, canning some key sequences for the project. The first look from the Venkat Prabhu directorial was set to be released on the occasion of New Years. However, the same has now reportedly been postponed out of respect for the passing of politician and actor Vijaykanth.
Thalapathy 68's first look launch postponed
The makers of Thalapathy 68 were looking to kickstart 2024 on a strong note by sharing the first look of one of the most anticipated releases of the year. However, insider sources state that the same has now been indefinitely delayed. The reason behind the postponement, is the passing of Kollywood's beloved actor turned politician Vijaykanth. It must be noted that Leo actor Thalapathy Vijay and the late Vijaykanth shared a strong professional and personal bond.
For the unversed, Thalapathy 68 marks Thalapathy Vijay's first collaboration with director Venkat Prabhu. The plot of the film reportedly deals with the theme of time travel. Additionally, Vijay will reportedly be essaying a dual role in the film. Besides Vijay, the film also stars SJ Suryah and Srinidhi. The film's Bangkok schedule was followed by a schedule in Hyderabad. The cast and crew of the film will now head to Sri Lanka in January to take the shoot forward.
Thalapathy Vijay attended Vijaykanth's funeral
Vijaykanth breathed his last on December 28. Thalapathy Vijay marked his presence at Vijaykanth's funeral to pay his last respects. The actor was evidently shaken and tearful.
The two had shared a brotherly bond which began when they worked together on their 1993 Tamil film, Sendhoorapandi.
