Not Guntur Kaaram or Kalki 2898AD, this Telugu title is the highest-anticipated film of 2024

The Telugu film industry is gearing up for a major four-way box office clash, come Sankranti of 2024. Four big banner films are gearing up to release around the Sankranti weekend, mid-January - namely, Guntur Kaaram, Eagle, Hanu Man and Naa Saami Ranga. Also releasing in the same weekend will be pan-India project Kalki 2898AD. While many would expect Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram or the Prabhas led Kalki 2898 AD to be the most anticipated Telugu release of 2024, an unexpected title has overtaken these big banner projects to achieve this feat.

Hanu Man is the most anticipated film of 2024

IMDb has officially released its list of most-anticipated Indian titles releasing in 2024. Topping the list, is Siddharth Anand's aerial action flick, Fighter, featuring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. Right below it, holding rank two, is the Prashanth Varma directed fantasy film Hanu Man with Teja Sajja in the lead.

This is a mean feat considering the kind of star power, other Telugu films releasing around the same time, carry. Pan-Indian project Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin holds the third rank in the list. Trivikram Srinivas' Guntur Kaaram is at the seventh spot. Additionally, the Varun Tej led film has come in on the tenth spot.

More on the Sankranti 2024 box office clash

As of now, four films - Guntur Kaaram, Eagle, Hanu Man and Naa Saami Ranga, are hitting theatres around mid-January with Kalki 2898 AD also part of the lineup. A recent Telugu film chamber meeting between the producers of the first four films ended on a stalemate with each party set on releasing their film on the announced date.

However, Dil Raju, president of the representative body, will reportedly share an update on the situation in the coming week. While Guntur Kaaram, Hanu Man and Kalki 2898AD are releasing on January 12, Ravi Teja's Eagle will release on January 13.
