In a tragic incident, 10 students went missing after a boat carrying school students overturned in the Bagmati River in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur on Thursday. At least 30 students were reported to be onboard when the incident occurred. The students from a nearby village were on the boat to go to the school.
As per news agency PTI, 20 students have been rescued so far. The incident took place near Madhupur Patti Ghat along the Bagmati River.
The locals rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and a rescue operation was immediately launched. A team from the State Disaster Response Force is also on-site.
Responding to the incident, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered the concerned district magistrate to look into the matter with urgency. He stated that the State Government will provide assistance to the affected families.
“Rescue operation is underway. I have asked the concerned District Magistrate to look into the matter with urgency. The State Government will provide all assistance to the affected families,” the Chief Minister said.
