Fire Breaks Out In Kolkata's Bagri Market. LIVE UPDATES HERE

Update at 12.50 pm: Fire doused at Kolkata's Bagri market. No causalities reported. 

Update at 10.00 am: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee speaking about the fire said: "It's okay. I am aware of everything. The fire broke out at 3 am in Burrabazar and there are no reports of casualties. The fire broke out at night because of some accident. 20 fire tenders have reached the spot and I have received the police commissioner's report. The report says there are no causalities. and nobody is trapped inside. The fire would be completely doused in some time."

Update at 8.15 am: The fire is under control and the fire brigade is trying to arrest the fire completely. 

Update at 8.00 am : The Fire in Kolkata market has been brought under control. 

Update at 6.30 am: The Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee who was present at the spot said, "The fire broke out at 2:45 am. We are trying our best but firefighting operation is tough here because of the number of buildings. The firefighters are finding it difficult to place ladders because of congestion. They are risking their lives and climbing on to the second floor to douse the fire. No injuries have been reported"

Update at 6.00 am: No injuries were reported as no one was present in the market late in the night. Hydraulic ladders are being used to reach the floor .Fire is still seen from some portions of the building.

Update at 5.30 am:  After the fire broke out, 20 fire engines were present at the location

 

 

A massive fire broke out last night in a building in Kolkata's Bagri Market area in Canning street on Sunday night since 2.30 am. The fire broke out on the ground floor of a five-storied building at 71 Canning Street. The market is known for wholesale of medicines. The Fire officers suspecting a short circuit. However, the actual reason is yet unknown.
