In a shocking incident, a landslide took place on the National Highway-5 (NH-5) in Jabli area of Solan district in Himachal Pradesh on Friday. The landslide took place in the aftermath of heavy and incessant rainfall in the area.
The visuals show sides of the mountain collapsing due to rain and with the mountain, two trees also feel down on the road amid the moving traffic. There have been no reports of casualties due to the landslide. As the video ends, some vehicles can be seen having a narrow escape from the landslide.
As per reports, the landslide has hit the railway traffic near the Dharampur area in in Solan district on Kalka-Shimla heritage railway line. The train from Kalka to Shimla was stopped midway at around 8 in the morning for about two hours between Sanwara and Dharampur. It was later resumed at around 12:55 in the afternoon. Now the movement of the train has been stopped again for two hours in order to ensure smooth movement of the train and clearance of all the blockages due to the landslide.
Earlier on Wednesday, a landslide took place in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi in which three vehicles including an SUV car, a dumper, and a motorcycle were crushed under the debris. The incident took place in Matiyali area of the city.
In another incident, after a day-long blockade due to landslides in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district, the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was reopened for vehicular traffic on Thursday. As per the officials, the debris after the landslides was cleared at several places in Ramban and Udhampur district following which the highway was reopened for traffic. After reopening of the road. over 200 stranded vehicles were allowed to move towards Jammu and Srinagar. Intermittent rains also triggered landslides at Panthiyal, Battery Chesma and More Passi near Balli Nallah along the National Highway in the district, blocking the road.
