Days after wall collapsed in the Andheri area of Mumbai, portion of a building has collapsed in the Dongri area of Mumbai on Tuesday. Sources said that at least 40 people are trapped under the debris. Days before the incident, due to incessant rains in the city of Mumbai, various incident of collapse took place claiming many lives.
In the visuals, rescue operations can be seen taking place. The NDRF team has reached the destination. However, it is also informed by the sources that the first call to the fire brigade team was made at 11.40 am even as the building collapsed. The local Police informing about the incident said that the building is a Level 2 building and BMC said taht it is a MHADA building and is very old. Details received by the sources said that the building is a G+4 building named Kaiserbai near Tandel street, behind Abdul Hamid Shah Dargah, Dongri, Mumbai. Agencies involved in the rescue operation are MFB, Police, 108 Ambulance, Ward staff.
Sources also said that people at the spot are saying that there were speculations that the building might be affected due to continuous rain. But the people were not evacuated from the building. Meanwhile, NDRF team reached the spot rescue operations were underway.
As the rescue operations are underway in the building, adjoining building in the risk zone are being evacuated.
Earlier, in a shocking incident, a huge wall has collapsed at the Paper Box Industrial Estate in MIDC in Mumbai's Andheri East area on Monday. The wall collapsed at around 11:53 in the morning due to incessant rain in the region. A video of the incident had been accessed by Republic showing the wall collapsing amid heavy rainfall in the region. The video appears to have been shot by the locals in the area. In the video, a two-wheeler was seen getting submerged in the debris of the wall. A man has suffered injuries as per reports and he has been taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, police and the Mumbai Fire Brigade have been mobilised to the area..
A building collapsed in Himachal Pradesh's Kumarhatti on Sunday amidst heavy rain. The rescue operation is underway. Seven people including defence personnel have been killed in the incident.One civilian and six Army jawans killed were in those casualties. Seven are believed to be trapped in the rubble of the collapse and are to be rescued.
