As Delhi air quality continues to remain hazardous, senior Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Friday slammed the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly targetting the Delhi government for poor air quality in the city.

"The environment situation is very unfortunate in Delhi. Till October 10, the pollution level in Delhi was 25 per cent lower thanks to the concerted efforts of Kejriwal and his government. It is the BJP governments, which are polluting the environment with their polluted mindset," Sigh said while interacting with a news agency.

Lauding the efforts made by the Delhi government to control air quality in the state, he said, "We have stopped all the construction sites in Delhi, carried out plantation drives on a huge scale, stopped the thermal power plants, and  are implementing the odd-even scheme for the third time."

'Poor air quality due to stubble burning'

He further said that stubble burning from neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana is the reason why Delhi is reeling under pollution. "The BJP government, be it at the Centre or in the state like Haryana, did nothing to address the issue of stubble burning. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar did not call any meeting to discuss the situation or to take any preventive measure," he alleged. Accusing the center and Opposition of politicising Delhi's air quality, he also said that the Delhi government can do nothing until unless Punjab and Haryana government control stubble burning in their states.
