Some devotees were seen offering prayers to their newly-bought vehicles as part of Ayudha Puja celebrations in Bengaluru's Sri Prasanna Ganapathi Temple. The vehicle owners and drivers decorated their vehicles with flowers and banana plants and offered prayers.

Ayudha Puja is one of the most significant aspects of Navratri. Also known as the 'Accident Ganesha temple', people believe that if they do not perform a Puja here their vehicle will meet with an accident.

Speaking to ANI, a local named Anita said, "We bought a new vehicle last week and I have come here to perform Puja for it."

"And we have specially come to this temple. After this, now we will go to other temples for this Puja. My whole family prays at this temple is believed to protect people and vehicles from accidents."

The 'Accident Ganesha' or 'Vehicle Ganesha' temple is almost 600 years old. It was frequently visited by hunters before their trips. Animals used in the circus were also brought here so that they didn’t create problems during the performance. In order to attend to every vehicle that comes in seeking blessings, the temple timings are extended every Friday and on the day of Ayudha Puja, since they are considered to be auspicious for vehicles.
