Two days after 34 girls in Bihar were beaten and thrashed by a mob of goons for resisting sexual harassment, the police has arrested nine accused in connection with the horrific incident. As per reports, these predators are young boys who live in the huts behind the school. They have been harassing the girls in the school for a long time. But when the girls condemned the harassment, these boys, along with their parents came and beat the girls in the school playground for more than an hour on Saturday.
“We have arrested nine people in the matter, out of whom three are women. We presume that one of them is a minor, but rest of the accused seem to be above the age of 18-year-old. We are still investigating further into the matter," Assistant Superintendent of Police of Supaul said.
The young victims aging between 12 to 15 protested against the lewd comments written on the school wall by a boy.
On Sunday, the district's MP revealed that the cops arrived at the scene of crime '3 hours' after the incident took place, and did not even file an FIR immediately. Speaking for the delay in the case, ASP of Supaul on Monday gave a statement,
"The registration of the case got delayed because the warden of the school was taking care of the girls who had been admitted in the hospital after the shocking attack on them. She also could not given us a proper description of the victims on time”.
The warden had also spoken about the attack on the girls stating that ‘a fight broke when the kids were playing outside in the field. A boy named Mohan from the neighbourhood and his mother had a with the girls. During the fight, they started hurling bad words at the girls. I condemned it and said I would call the HDO. After seeing that the girls are getting beaten, I called the HDO. Many from the district were involved’.
