Bihar’s BJP leader Gangotri Prasad's son, Piyush Kumar has been stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants on Monday night, while he was passing by the Garkha block of Bihar’s Saran district. His dead body was recovered beside the roads in Manikpur block in the district.
According to his family, “Piyush was on his way to meet someone in the Garkha block, but he was stabbed midway by unidentified men”. Reportedly, BJP had called for a bandh in the Chhapra district after the incident.
Piyush Kumar was an active worker of the ruling party, posted as the general secretary in BJP’s Chhapra city wing in Saran District. He started his political journey from BJP’s youth wing party ABVP and was working as a data operator in Chhapra District Hospital.
"This is a very unfortunate incident. A lot of hard-working BJP workers have been killed in the district in the last few years. We are not able to speak much because it is our government but the situation is worsening with each passing day," said local BJP leader Shantanu Singh.
Lately, there has been a rise in crimes in Bihar with the state being in news for all the wrong reasons. Within a fortnight, former Deputy Mayor and a businessman have been murdered in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur area. Recently, the report of harassment of 34 girls Bihar’s Supaul district shook the country.
All these incidences have raised questions on Nitish Kumar government that is certainly losing the grip over law and order (which was his once his USP in governance) of the state. When Bihar CM Nitish Kumar came into power outcasting Lalu Prasad Yadav’s 15 years of ‘jungle Raj’, he established the rule of law and several lawbreakers were punished and put behind bars through speedy trial.
But now it seems like Nitish Kumar’s image has been dented with such horrific incidents. It has become rather important for JDU leader to galvanize the police force in the state in order to put a check on the increasing crimes.
