Man gets 5-yr RI for sexually assaulting adopted minor daughter

A local court on Monday sentenced a 48-year-old man to five-years Rigorous Imprisonment for sexually assaulting his adopted 13-year-old daughter in 2015. The IX Additional District Sessions Judge at L B Nagar  found the man guilty under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to five-years RI.

He was also slapped with a fine of Rs 2,500, a release from Rachakonda Police Commissionerate said. The prosecution said the couple adopted the girl as they did not have any children. In March 2015 the man sexually assaulted the girl at home in the absence of his wife and threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.

On May 30 2015, he again tried to sexually assault the girl in an inebirated state and when she resisted and shouted, got angry, hit her with the handle of a saw and cut her right wrist. Following a complaint from the child helpline, he was arrested.
