Mumbai: Police find ₹1.5 lakh in beggar's hut after he dies
In an unfortunate incident, Mumbai man by the name Burju Chandra Azad in Govandi died of an accident after which the police retrieved finances from his house

In an unfortunate incident, a Mumbai man by the name Burju Chandra Azad in Govandi died in an accident while trying to cross the railway track. The Railway police reached the accident site and retrieved his body. After the incident, a fixed deposit of Rs 8.77 lakhs was recovered by the police. Azad also had a collection of Rs 1.5 lakhs of cash, mostly in coins.

The case of Burju Chandra Azad
After the railway police reached the accident site, they retrieved the body of Azad and sent it for postmortem. Apart from cash, Azad also had a PAN card, Aadhar card and a Senior citizen card. The police have stated their surprise on discovering Azad's wealth kept away in his hut. After further inspection, the police have found out that he used to live alone and people living adjacent to his hut, knew nothing of him. Furthermore, the police informed the media that Burju Chandra Azad's family lives in Rajasthan and has been contacted. They also added that they have contacted Azad's son as well who is the nominee of the fixed deposit. According to sources, Azad was living in Govandi for many years. He would go begging on the harbour line every day to save up finances for his children back home. The neighbours claimed they had no idea that Azad had the kind of finances that was retrieved by the police.
