In an incident that has provoked a lot of different reactions including some degree of soul-searching and introspection about the state of our public amenities, a Mumbai local motorman stopped his train mid-way to relieve himself on the tracks. The video went viral, and the Twitterverse has blamed various authorities for lack of sanitation for motormen.

The incident came to light after a video was circulated on Twitter which shows the motorman calmly urinating in front of the train he is supposed to operate. Apparently, the motorman halted the train between the Central suburbs of Ulhasnagar and Vithalwadi.

The motorman did not seem to be bothered even by the approaching train from the other track. Meanwhile, curious commuters started to lean over the door and tried figuring out the reason for the delay. However, due to the way he had positioned himself, in front of the lead rake, the commuters could not see him in the blind spot.

People have pointed out a number of noteworthy or not-so-worthy things about the video and the incident, including the train having been stopped without there even having been a red signal.

However, some Netizens blamed the poor management for failing to install a lavatory for the motormen who have to operate these trains on a daily basis. Here's what Netizens said in support of the motorman:

"The video is a proof of the poor conditions of the train drivers and also shows that there's a need for toilets on board the trains."

"There's no need for a warning. The motorman is not at fault, the railways must build toilets on both ends of the platforms. But space restrictions is a problem."

"The motorman is right on his part. Its better for him to get down rather than controlling it and losing concentration while operating the train."

Netizens strongly demanded that lavatories should be installed for the motormen which has been pending since a while now.
