SHOCKING: Man receives a whopping Rs 23 crore electricity bill in Uttar Pradesh

A man in Uttar Pradesh received a shock of his life in the form of an electricity bill. For this UP man, the monthly electricity bill went unimaginably high and he was left speechless when he read the amount he was supposed to pay. According to ANI, the man named Abdul Basituj received an electricity bill of Rs 23 crore, for his home electricity connection of 2 kilowatts.

The connection, enough to power a regular home, showed consumption of only 178 units of electricity.

"It seems like I've received the entire bill of Uttar Pradesh," Abdul Basit told ANI. "Even if I earn money for my entire life, I'll still be unable to pay this exorbitant amount," he said.

The exact amount charged was Rs 23,67,71,524.

Speaking about this to ANI, executive engineer Shadab Ahmed said payment will be sought only after the bill is rectified.

"Due to some anomalies in reading such kinds of bills are being generated. It would be changed and meter reading will be taken again. Only after a bill is found correct, the consumer will be asked to pay for it," he said.

However, this is not the first time a bill has been generated. In May 2018 a vegetable vendor from Maharashtra's Aurangabad had received an enormous electricity bill of Rs 8.64 lakh for the month of March. In 2017, a man from Jamshedpur had received an electricity bill of Rs 3800 crore.
