Amitabh Kant Predicts, 'PM Modi's 4Ds Signal Decisive Policymaking'

Hailing PM Modi's keynote speech at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum (GBF) in New York, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, on Wednesday said that Indian economy is benefiting from four Ds -Democracy, Demography, Demand and the new one Decisiveness, in conversation with Republic TV. He added that this additional 'D' of decisiveness is a clear signal of the government's decisive approach to economic policy. The four Ds were highlighted by PM Modi in his speech at GBF. PM Modi had enlisted these as the four factors necessary for favourable business conditions are present in India.

'4Ds show's govt's decisiveness': PM Modi

"We will benefit from four key factors - Democracy, Demography, Demand which we have due to population. And today, he (PM Modi) added the fourth one which is the decisiveness of government. This is a very clear signal that the government will be extremely decisive when it comes to policymaking," said Kant.

Highlighting the decisiveness displayed by PM Modi, Kant added, "He clearly pointed out that India will benchmark according to global standards - global laws and global governance. That to my mind is sending a clear signal that 'Come, make in India'. He (PM Modi) will personally ensure that it will happen. Rarely have I heard any Prime Minister say this. This is a clear message that India will take its growth to high trajectory growth rate. It will do everything to grow so that young Indians can benefit from it."

Four factors for India's growth: PM Modi

Earlier in the day, PM Modi had explained the four factors when combined, gives growth in investment becomes a byproduct. He added that it expanded on India's goal of a 5 trillion dollar economy. He also added that India must reform its systems according to the global benchmark. He also laid out  India's roadmap to becoming a $5 trillion economy, in his address.

Explaining the four factors, the PM said: "There are four factors of India's growth story. They are the rest of the rare combinations. These factors are democracy, demography, demand, decisiveness. The first factor is political stability, it has come after decades." "When there is a democracy, when there is political stability when the policies are predictable and judiciary is independent, then the safety security and growth in investment is guaranteed," PM Modi added.

PM Modi in the US

Prime Minister Modi is on a six-day US visit. He attended the mega Howdy Modi event on the first day and addressed 50,000 Indian Americans at the NRG Stadium in Houston. US President Donald Trump also made his appearance at the event. The very next day, on September 23, the Prime Minister addressed the UN Climate Summit at the UN headquarters in New York. On September 24, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Gandhi Solar park and spoke at a special program to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary. He also met US president for bilateral talks. He addressed the GBF on Wednesday and is scheduled to speak at the UNGA on September 27.
